PRINCIPLES TO REALIZE TOMORROW
The evidence for deliverance ministry is in the ministry of Jesus Himself. The working of the Holy Spirit of God is something that people are hungry for and needing. Jesus in His ministry answered to this human need of “bondage in a life”. Jesus Himself said, “But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.” Luke 11:20 NKJV.
The Kingdom of God, the rule of God, the reign of His righteous purposes often includes confrontation with the demonic. It is the charge to the church to expect the ministry of confronting and overthrowing demonic power. Mark 16:17 “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues.” The bible summarizes Jesus’ ministry this way: “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” Acts 10:38
When a person comes to Jesus and begins their life in Him, we have a description of what they should and can expect in 2 Corinthians 1:10. It says, “who (speaking of our Savior) delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us.” This text clearly states:
1. That there is a deliverance when we come to Christ
2. He is continually delivering us
3. He will ultimately deliver us when we go to heaven
There is a promise and a process in this passage. While our salvation is instantaneous, there’s an ongoing process of the new creation possibilities in us that is exactly that: an ongoing process. That ongoing process has two parts: spiritual growth, and secondly the process of being freed:
- Freed from self and self-centeredness
- Freed from blindness of things we have not seen before, as the Word becomes a lamp unto our path
- Freed from the things that are residual from our past – the “hanger-on’s”
Is deliverance a credible ministry for today and why? What is it? Does it apply to me and how is it to be ministered. These questions are addressed in this present series by Pastor Sadaphal.
