The latest national events causes us to come before God humbly and honestly. It is as if the psalmist David saw into 2016 when he wrote: O God, you have rejected us, broken our defenses; you have been angry; oh, restore us. You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open; repair its breaches, for it totters. You have made your people see hard things; you have given us wine to drink that made us stagger. You have set up a banner for those who fear you… Psalm 60:1–4 (ESV)
Honest assessment causes us to realize that we have sown a culture of violence. As nation we have legitimized the murder of innocent children (abortion), compounded by the disregard of the unique image of God in each individual. That has opened the doorway to lawlessness and violence. There is a need to corporately ask forgiveness of the Lord and affirm a personal commitment to live out righteousness. Choosing to honor the Father and not do what is right in our own sight. Only then can we hope to be instruments of reconciliation and peace.
God is looking for people who have a passion for righteousness and He will work in partnership with those towards redemption of our land. The power is His; the privilege is ours to pray and invite the entry of His kingdom. It’s time to seek the Lord! Will you be one of those that answers the call?
For the next several Sundays we have altered our normal start time to allow for a time of Prayer for our Nation. I look forward to co-laboring with you. Pastor Sadaphal
