Although the temple has been rebuilt in Jerusalem and worship is reestablished, the people live in constant fear of attack without a means of defense. So it is with God's people, who have entered into a right relationship with their Creator but still live with the encroachments of the enemy and a broken past. It is the work of the Holy Spirit, as prefigured by Nehemiah, that rebuilds the personality stone by stone, setting up clear boundaries.
