There are few stories in Scripture more poignant, more deeply human, than this one. It is remarkable not merely because a man endured the heartbreak of marrying an unfaithful woman, but because the Lord Himself commanded him to love her, pursue her, and make her his wife. Why would the Lord command such a thing?
